Accuracy and limitations

How to do it
Watch for mileposts or kilometre markers alongside the track. Time the seconds between two consecutive markers. Speed (km/h) = 3600 / seconds between 1 km markers.
Example
If 1 km of markers pass in 12 seconds, the train is travelling at 3600/12 = 300 km/h. At 24 seconds per km marker: 3600/24 = 150 km/h.
Accuracy
