How the Train Speed Checker Works
The speed checker relies on the Geolocation API built into every modern smartphone browser. When you grant location access, the browser begins receiving satellite positioning data from your phone's GPS chip. Here is what happens behind the scenes.
Satellite Signal Acquisition
Your phone connects to 4 or more GPS, GLONASS, or Galileo satellites overhead. The chip calculates your precise position and velocity using signal timing and Doppler frequency shifts.
Doppler-Based Speed Calculation
Rather than comparing two positions over time, modern GPS chips measure the Doppler shift of satellite signals. This gives a direct velocity reading that is more accurate than position-derived speed, especially at high velocities.
Browser Geolocation API
The checker uses the W3C Geolocation API to request high-accuracy positioning. The browser returns latitude, longitude, speed, and heading data — the checker reads the speed value and converts it to your preferred unit.
Privacy-First Architecture
